I came across a republican in a forum pretending to be a democrat talking about rehabilitation for BIn Laden. I responded with this:

"That was funny, as in, funny how you republicans can't quote any Democrats on statements like these, so you have to dress up as one of us and make them yourself. It's also funny how you try to portray leftists as democrats: there are dozens of parties to the left of the democrats, but there is no neo-nazi party. That's because neo-nazis are republicans.

Bin Laden already got rehabilitation: the Reagan/Bush administrations rehabilitated him away from peace and gave him and his cohorts arms and trained him how to commit terrorist acts during the 1980s. His folks would videotake themselves skinning Russian prisoners alive, and then mail the videotapes to the soldier's mothers. They were probably trained to do this by the Bush-directed CIA.

About Bin Laden's dad and such, did you know that while thousands of muslims were being rounded up at random, Bin Laden's family was given a free ride out of the USA and away from questioning? The same Bin Laden family that does big business with the Bush junta? "

Which group can give the world peace?

Here are some leftists. Dispite their leaders ordering them to hate each other, they join together to rally for peace. This is how leftists deal with conflict.

Here is how the right deals with conflict: assassination. From April 14th:

A right-wing libertarian (with a radio show, no less) just killed a cop and politician in a terrorist-style assasination. What do you think the headlines say? "Cop-killing terrorist turns out to be right-wing talk-show host?"

No, in fact the politics of the murderer are hardly mentioned in any articles, and in this one, the right-winger is even called an "anarchist"!

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20020414/ts_nm/crime_sheriff_dc_1

Lots of articles refer to the terrorist assasination as a "death" as if the guy ran really quickly and then headbutted a rifle bullet that happened to be floating in the air.

This "death" article notes that the right-wing libertarian was caught red-handed, then dismisses him and starts speculating that - get this - the cop was killed by a pot-grower! We all know what crack-shots potheads are! (True, the killer is a libertarian (which is essentially a republican on drugs) this might be relevant, but come on...Pothead snipers?)

More on the Venezuela Coup:

Venezuela Coup linked to Bush

An eye-witness account of the Coup

Which proved my study of corporate media photos of the massacre to be as I suspected.

Austrialian paper points out Bush collaboration in the coup as well.

Maybe I shouldn't be so fast to criticize the protest in Washington. We got 75,000 people there, and a couple of republicans organized about 75. (I've noticed this thousand to one ratio in almost all recent protests BTW: Seattle: Republican party and Chritian Coalition have about 60, while 60,000 oppose WTO. A16: 30 or so republican fratboys get drunk on frathouse lawn, 30,000 take to the streets vs IMF. There was a 25 "strong" libertarian contingent in a 25,000 strong march durning the Repug convention, and a similiar number while 60,000 protested the FTAA. In Genoa, a 300,000 strong protest was infilitrated by hundreds of extremely destructive neo-nazis, as admitted by the chief of police who did nothing to stop them.)

The anti-war rally had both Jews and Palestinians together in peace. The republican rally had neither Jews NOR Palestinians, in fact there was probably nobody from outside their own inbred family tree.

Here's someone who knows how to heckraise:

"Although an Activist myself, I work (for now) in the Canadian mainstream media, and get frustrated every time I see a protest covered. Yes, the mainstream does take steps to ignore what is being said.

However, there are things you can do to counteract this:

In the weeks leading up to the protests, call the GM or News Director of local TV stations, and ask to be interviewed. If they accept, great. Now, show up with something to say, and the FACTS to back up those words.

If denied, thank them anyway, then call all your friends, and hold a NOISY rally in front of the station. Call the station's competitors, and when their cameras arrive (and they will) talk to them.

At the protest itself, SEEK OUT THE CAMERAS. Talk to the reporters. They are looking for the easy story. They're lazy people, and generally not the smartest people alive.

You must make your views easily-accessible to them. Befriend them. They're just people like you and I. Ask their opinions. I guarantee a lot of them have never even considered the bigger question. Find a way to get through. Give them a solid sound-bite, something they can use.

Insist that they get a wide-shot of the crowd. The camera lens can be very narrow. It's one thing to say "a hundred thousand people", and quite another to show it.

Besides creative protest signs, CARRY FLAGS, not for the country that is, but for the country that should be, the one you were PROMISED. Take away the enemy's ability to label you "unpatriotic".

If the cops rush you, cover up in the flag. What a different picture it would make, if the police had to beat and arrest people through the flag. You must learn to use the media. We are playing a game with rules the enemy has devised. We must find ways to bend these rules.

If the cops walk in formation, beating on their shields, know that this is a tactic of intimidation. Stand strong, together, and beat in unison with them. Demonstrate your resolve to all those cameras.

Dance and sing to the beat. Change their intention for them. Deflate the situation. Steal their power."

There's a protest in Washington today. Everyone is hyped about the Middle East. Why?

If the corporate media chose to make this one corner of the world the top story every night for at least a year, do you think they don't want us to talk about it? Are you absolutely, 100% certain that they don't hype it because it divides the left? You do know that more people starve daily than have been killed in the entire war, even including 9/11? If you're going to work for the corporate media, at least ask them to hire you so you can be paid for it!

Oh, and one more thing: Hey, hey, ho, ho umbrella protests have to go!

Quote from someone who agrees:

"Screw Mumia! We're ALL political prisoners now."

Just for fun, let's compare Bush and Chavez.

Chavez: Cracked-down on corruption

Bush: Enron. Nuff said.

Chavez: promoted educational reform which schooled over 1 million children for the first time and doubled investment in education

Bush: Leaves children behind. Uses schools for photo ops. Even when America is under attack by terrorists.

Chavez: Reduced unemployment from 18% to 13%;

Bush: When is that economic stimulus going to kick in anyway? Once Gore gets re-elected? Just this week:

General Electric (GE), has announced that it will cut 7,000 jobs.

Chavez: Introduced a large-scale micro-credit program for the poor and for women;

Bush: Can't pronounce micro-credit. I mean, we're talking about a guy who gets outsmarted by snack food here.

Chavez: Reformed the tax system which dramatically reduced tax evasion

Bush: Gave taxpayers dollars to Enron.

Chavez:...lowered infant mortality from 21% to 17%;

Bush: Illegally aborted his baby after raping a 15-year old (which is also illegal.

Chavez: Tripled literacy courses

Bush: Hasn't even tought himself to read.

Chavez: Modernized the legal system...

Bush: Burned the constitution.

Chavez: One of the highest growth rates on the continent

Bush: At least oil profits are growing...

Chavez: Elected twice

Bush: Better luck next time?

Í'm a bit hyped with this whole Venezuela thing, I know...But here's something liberals should be pointing out, at least when talking to "libertarian" types. That is that Bush is a protectionist, making him a lair, a hypocrite ("no friend of the poor" as he put it), and who knows, maybe he even smashed a bank window or something. Please note that the article here is against protectionism for the USA, but in favor of protectionism for the third-world. These guys need advantages to catch up to the west (who got forward by using protectionism in the past). This article talks about steel, but Bush is also levying tarriffs (which you might want to point out are TAXES! "So help me god - not over my dead body") on softwood lumber from Canada. Canada has a socialist-style foresting industry that is superior to the US method, and Bush says our efficiency is an unfair advantage! What a whiner!

In the Honor and Dignity department, notice how gentle and forgiving twice-elected Chavez is even though he has just been taken hostage by a CIA-style military coup. There are two words to describe how Chavez is: Hornorable and Dignified. Even though he found a US plane on the island where he was held hostage, he's giving the never-elected Bush adminsitration the benifit of the doubt.

"I think they were victims of misinformation," Chavez told a news conference, referring to the U.S. government with uncharacteristic diplomacy, adding he guaranteed no interruption of Venezuelan oil supplies to the United States....

For his part, Chavez said he was fascinated by the presence of a plane with U.S. markings on the Venezuelan Caribbean island of La Orchila where he was held after Friday's coup.

At the time, the military was trying to persuade him to resign and fly into foreign exile.

"I saw the plane. It bore the markings of a private plane from the United States, not an official plane. This is being investigated. What was it doing there?" Chavez asked.

Now compare to the mafia-style threats coming back in return from the never-elected ballot-burners of the Bushron junta. I'd hate to give them any ideas, but I wonder when they'll get around to accusing Chavez of getting a B.J.

Bush administration admits it's not elected?

Did I mention that the Bush administration really, really hates democracy?

Check that link for a Rueters article (I'll bet anything that it won't be printed in a single actual newspaper) that quotes a Bush junta member giving advice to the twice-elected, never-had-to-hold-my-opponent-hostage president of Venezuela.

"Another senior official cast doubt on Chavez's legitimacy. "He was democratically elected. He won a majority of votes. Legitimacy is something that is conferred not just by a majority of votes, however," he said. "

Yeah, PUNK, but it's a NICE PLACE TO START, EH????

Oh right, I forgot - legitimacy is something that is conferred by TAKING A PRESIDENT HOSTAGE! You know, I would do some sort of comparism of putting Bush in the shoes of Chavez, but you know what? I'd probably be arrested for it.

SMOKING GUN!

A private intelligence firm composed of ex-CIA spooks admits that both the CIA and the State department were behind the Venezuelan coup, and that they have been behind other coups in the past. Follow the link and SAVE IT TO DISK!

Human intelligence sources in Venezuela and Washington told STRATFOR April 14 that the Central Intelligence Agency and the U.S. State Department may have been involved separately in the events that took place in Caracas between April 5 and April 13. If the information is correct, the reinstatement of President Hugo Chavez less than 48 hours after he was toppled by a civilian-military coup could have disastrous implications for the Bush administration's policy in Latin America.

Analysis

Several human sources told STRATFOR on April 14 that the U.S. State Department and the Central Intelligence Agency may have had a hand in the tumultuous events that occurred between April 5 and April 13 in Caracas, culminating in President Hugo Chavez's brief ouster and his return to power.

Although these sources may have had their own motivations for making the allegation, it is possible -- if the Chavez regime produces convincing evidence of U.S. government involvement in the failed coup -- that it could poison Washington's relations with governments throughout Latin America. Efforts to win regional support for increased U.S. military support to Colombia, and to other Andean ridge countries battling the twin threats of international drug trafficking and nominally Marxist insurgencies, would be set back significantly in Latin America and Washington. The Bush administration's efforts to pursue more free trade agreements in the region also would be undermined.

Chavez could strengthen his own political base in Venezuela if he can quickly prove U.S. involvement in attempts to topple his 3-year-old regime. This also would give a tremendous boost to Chavez's leadership status and credibility with populist and nationalist groups across Latin America that view the United States as a threat and that oppose U.S.-style capitalist democracy.

The U.S. government has a long history of interfering with Latin American regimes viewed as unfriendly or dangerous to U.S. national security interests in the region. Although the Bush administration tried very hard in the past week to distance itself from the chaos in Venezuela, many governments in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia viewed Washington's cautious silence on Venezuela with considerable skepticism.

However, if STRATFOR's sources are correct, the skepticism may have been justified.

Our sources in Venezuela and the United States report that the CIA had knowledge of, and possibly even supported, the ultra-conservative civilians and military officials who tried unsuccessfully to hijack interim President Pedro Carmona Estanga's administration. Sources in Venezuela identified this group as including members of the extremely conservative Catholic Opus Dei society and military officers loyal to retired Gen. Ruben Rojas, who also is a son-in-law of former President Rafael Caldera. Caldera, who governed from 1969 to 1973 and from 1994 to 1998, founded the Christian Democratic Copei party.

STRATFOR's sources say this ultra-conservative group planned to launch a coup against the Chavez regime on Feb. 27, but the action was aborted at the last minute as a result of strong pressure from the Bush administration, which warned publicly that it would not support or recognize any undemocratic efforts to oust Chavez.

Separately, STRATFOR's sources report, the State Department was quietly supporting the moderate center-right civilian-military coalition that sought Chavez's resignation by confronting his increasingly authoritarian regime with unarmed, peaceful people power. The April 11 protest by nearly 350,000 Venezuelans was the largest march against any government in Venezuela's history, and even without violence the momentum likely would have continued building in subsequent days. U.S. policymakers who supported the civic groups seeking Chavez's departure believed their numbers eventually would reach a sufficiently large critical mass to force a change in Chavez's policies or even trigger a regime change.

However, the violence that killed 15 people and injured 350 -- including 157 who suffered gunshot wounds inflicted by pro-Chavez government security forces and civilian militia members -- united the previously leaderless and disarticulated center-right opposition and gave moderates in the armed forces (FAN) what they perceived as a legitimate reason to oust Chavez immediately. Sources in this center-right group tell STRATFOR that the videotapes of pro-Chavez gunmen firing indiscriminately into the front ranks of marching protesters were "more than enough" to legally justify a regime change.

The conservative civilian-military group timed its coup-within-a -coup perfectly, using Carmona's swearing-in ceremony as the platform from which to hijack what was supposed to be a moderate center-right transition government -- a government that would reach out to the moderate left that is led by former Interior and Justice Minister Luis Miquilena. STRATFOR's sources inside this group report that 23 members of the president's Fifth Republic Movement (MVR) block in the National Assembly had committed late April 11, after the violence, to vote for Chavez's removal from power.

Additionally, given that Vice President Diosdado Cabello was responsible for organizing and coordinating the Bolivarian Circles from Miraflores presidential palace, it was felt that he and other senior Chavez regime officials could have been removed legally from the government with the help of Miquilena's votes in the National Assembly and his strong influence over the Supreme Court.

However, Carmona Estanga destroyed that possibility and irreparably fractured the center-right coalition that named him to the presidency when he announced the dissolution of the National Assembly, fired the entire Supreme Court and sacked the attorney general, comptroller general and the public defender, who were appointed by Chavez.

The dissolution of the National Assembly was repudiated unanimously by every political and civic organization in the country. The powerful Venezuelan Workers Confederation (CTV) promptly withdrew its support from Carmona without making any announcements in that regard, STRATFOR sources said, and the tenuous anti-Chavez coalition within the FAN collapsed almost immediately.

Moreover, tensions between the moderate and mainly army faction led by Gen. Efrain Vasquez Velasco and the ultra-conservatives flared rapidly as the right-wingers, through the new interim defense minister, sought to break up Vasquez Velasco's base of support within the army by transferring some his key associates to other commands.

The picture painted by STRATFOR's sources in Venezuela and the United States is of two parallel U.S. operations that were executed separately by the State Department and CIA. While the State Department sought discreetly and quasi-officially to support the anti-Chavez moderates in an effort to build a viable political center, the CIA was at least aware of the ultra-conservative plot to hijack Carmona's short-lived presidency.

If the sources are correct, the Bush administration's carefully laid plans soon may backfire.

"Catron and his challenger in the 1998 Republican primary election tied after three vote counts, and Catron won by a coin toss prescribed under state law."

Hehe - Kentucky elections were designed by Ralph Nader!

More on this story, from the corporate media.

Howdy y'all, and welcome to the begining of the liberal-bias media. First of all, please don't confuse me with "the liberal media" a fine site, by the way.

I've been giving some thought to the recent coup attempt in Venezuela.

1st of all it shows that karma will save you if you'd "cracked-down on corruption; promoted educational reform which schooled over 1 million children for the first time and doubled investment in education...reduced official unemployment from 18% to 13%; introduced a large-scale micro-credit program for the poor and for women; reformed the tax system which dramatically reduced tax evasion ...lowered infant mortality from 21% to 17%; tripled literacy courses; modernized the legal system...
Stopped hospitals from leaving the poor to bleed to death, and last but not least created highest growth rates in Latin America."

2ndly it shows that liberals need to organize into narrower movements that only piss off one pillar of power at a time. While it can be expected that Chavez would be hated by the business lobby and the media, there was no need to anger the church or the state unions, at least until the others were relieved of their corruption.

3ndly it shows that while the NRA may be liars when it comes to crime and safety, armed citizens are a good idea when you've got fascists willing to overthrow democracy. Arm the homeless!

4thly it shows that contrary to jarhead steriotypes, the rank and file (not to be confused with the brass) in the military can be willing to support democracy, if they are treated right. Point out that Bush went AWOL. Point out how many of the homeless are war vets, and how the republicans spit on them. Point out that the Bush administration allowed the Pentagon to be attacked. Point out that the republicans sent arms and funds to nearly every one of America's enemies, from Iran to Saddam Hussien to the Taliban, and all the way back to the nazis.

I could go on, but I've just been distracted by something that has really ticked me off. Will be back in a moment.
